Shoalhaven Mayor Patricia White takes leave following serious health diagnosis

Date:11th August 2026

Shoalhaven Mayor Patricia White is taking a leave of absence from her official duties following a recent, serious health diagnosis, Council chief executive Andrew Constance announced today.

Mr Constance said Council’s focus was on supporting Cr White through her recovery. “Her health and wellbeing are our primary concern,” he said, asking that the community and media respect the privacy of Cr White and her family, and refrain from contacting her directly during this period.

Deputy Mayor Peter Wilkins will undertake official mayoral duties in Cr White’s absence, including chairing the August ordinary meeting of Council. He began chairing the Finance and Infrastructure Review Panel from today.

Council inquiries during this period are being directed to the CEO’s office or Council’s main contact channels. Mr Constance said Council would continue operating as usual and looked forward to welcoming Cr White back when she is ready.

No timeframe has been given for Cr White’s return.
