Glamorgan Spring Bay Council has appointed Nick McGuire as its new Chief Executive Officer, following a Special Meeting of Council held on Thursday 16 July.
The appointment follows a national recruitment process conducted over three months, which attracted twenty-five candidates. McGuire was interviewed twice by a CEO Recruitment Panel comprising four councillors, delegated by the full council to oversee the process.
Mayor Cheryl Arnol said McGuire’s broad local government background and manner impressed the panel, noting he brought “his obvious passion for the community and the demanding role” he is taking on.
McGuire has worked in senior and executive local government roles in Queensland, before relocating his family to Tasmania in 2024. He has most recently served as Manager, Economic Development at the City of Hobart. He has personal ties to the region, having spent childhood weekends at Bicheno.
McGuire will commence in the role on Monday 3 August, on a four-year performance-based contract.
