Loddon Shire Council Reappoints CEO

Loddon Shire Council has announced the reappointment of Chief Executive Officer Lincoln Fitzgerald, securing his leadership for another five years. The new contract will take effect on November 1, 2026.

First appointed to the role in 2021, Mr. Fitzgerald’s initial term was set to expire at the end of October this year.

Loddon Shire Mayor Dan Straub said the council had little hesitation in offering the extension. Mayor Straub highlighted Mr. Fitzgerald’s outstanding guidance through a remarkably turbulent period, which included navigating the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic, managing the devastating local impacts of the 2022 and 2023 floods, and steering the rural municipality through complex financial landscapes.

Mr. Fitzgerald said he considers the reappointment a collective vote of confidence in the entire organisation’s forward momentum.

Prior to his tenure at Loddon Shire, Mr. Fitzgerald built his career in local government with roles at the City of Greater Bendigo and Mount Alexander Shire Council, alongside valuable international experience.

The reappointment is the latest in a string of Victorian Council CEO announcements, including the departure of Ararat, Pyrenees and Mount Alexander Shire Council chief executives. Find out more on our handy CEO Appointment Watch here.
