Kelvin Tytherleigh appointed North Burnett Regional Council CEO

North Burnett Regional Council in Queensland has appointed Mr Kelvin Tytherleigh as its new Chief Executive Officer. He will start on Monday 14 December.

Mr Tytherleigh has previously served as CEO of Boulia, Moree and Hinchinbrook councils. Council says his experience spans corporate services, governance, financial management, strategic planning and community engagement. He holds an MBA and postgraduate qualifications in Governance and Public Policy and Management.

Mayor Cr Les Hotz described Mr Tytherleigh as a “highly respected local government executive”. He said the appointment would build on the progress Council has already made and help position the region for continued growth.

Mr Tytherleigh said he was honoured to be appointed. He said he looks forward to working with councillors, staff, residents, businesses and community groups. He and his wife, Anne, plan to be settled in the North Burnett before the end of the year.

Mr Tytherleigh succeeds Mr Craig Matheson, whose resignation takes effect on Friday 11 December. Cr Hotz thanked Mr Matheson for his commitment and professionalism, saying his leadership had helped strengthen the organisation and advance projects across the region. Mr Matheson has held the position since September 2024.
