Date: 13th August 2026
Murrindindi Shire Council has confirmed the resignation of Kinglake Ward Councillor Jodi Adams, effective 12 August 2026.
Cr Adams was elected to represent Kinglake Ward in October 2024 and held Council’s Community Wellbeing portfolio during her term. She had been on personal leave from her councillor duties prior to the resignation.
As Kinglake is a single-councillor ward, the resulting extraordinary vacancy will be filled through a by-election conducted by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC).
Meanwhile, former Wyndham City Council mayor Kim McAliney is set to return as a councillor securing more than 50 per cent of first-preference votes in the Heathdale Ward by-election.

The vote was triggered following the resignation of former councillor Jennie Barrera earlier this year.
McAliney previously served 11 years on council, including four years as mayor.
